Lewis and Clark River
Lewis and Clark River near Fort Clatsop. Lewis and Clark called it the Netul River. They spent the winter on its bank, in Fort Clatsop. A salt works was set up on the coast near present day Seaside, Oregon (on the north side of Tillamook Head--Cannon Beach is on the south side). There was quite a bit of traffic between Fort Clatsop and the salt works over the winter. I think several routes were used, but at least part of the Lewis and Clark River was repeatedly traveled. The river was known as the Netul River until 1925, when it was renamed to honor Lewis and Clark. The river flows through Lewis and Clark National and State Historical Parks.
I also took a picture of the river near its source. Looks quite different.
