Into the fire
Looking out onto the Kabuki-Za Theatre in Tokyo. A very wet evening with no tripod to hand, so I decided to rest my camera on an orange post box! Bit too much post box for my liking, but it provided a great vantage point of the street and the theatre.
The Kabuki-Za opened in 1889, but the original building was destroyed during World War II. The theatre, host of traditional Kabuki for more than a century, is soon to be replaced by a high-rise building 'accommodating' the theatre and business offices. The current theatre structure, where a 16-month run of farewell performances is underway, was built in 1951.
Tokyo is obviously in need of a another commercial high-rise building...
