It is believed in Hindu religion, that if a dead body is cremated in Varanasi and ashes are offered to Ganga, the reincarnation cycle is disrupted and the soul runites with God Vishnu. Cremations take place at the special spot of Ghats (a stairway to Ganga bank) 24 hours non-stop. During that time approximately 200 bodies are being burned. People bring the bodies of their relatives from all over India. In order to cremate a body, approximately 700 kg of firewood is needed.
