one of my goals for the new year is to save up to buy a better camera so I can take beautiful shots of my children. I also want to take a photography class, so I can learn how to take "real" pictures, with good lighting and such.
When I look at the pictures some of the women I admire on Flickr take, I feel somewhat envious and very dumb because my pictures don't even come CLOSE to being beautiful like theirs.
But my children are beautiful, so I love each picture I take of them, even if they aren't perfect or don't have great lighting or aren't framed perfectly. To me, they are beatuiful because of who THEY are.
And they? Are perfect.
I wish I was better at this, but, the truth is, I have no idea what I'm doing and I use a simple "point and shoot." But, I try. And I hope I at least do a good job of capturing "Moments" in their lives and emotions that they feel. That's what is really important to me.

you would think your camera cost a zillion dollars with this shot my dear.

You do an AMAZING job at photographing your children. YOU are one of the women I admire and I find myself quite envious of the shots you take! Unfortunately, we are our own worst critics; I know I'm mine.

Point and shoot or not, you seem to be a really intuitive photographer, and I think that's half the battle.

You take GORGEOUS pictures. It's not always the camera or the techinical aspects - you have an eye for what's beautiful or what would make a good shot, and you really know how to frame your shots. Keep at it.
And happy new year!

your camera takes WAY better pictures than ours does. I've currently got my eye on a 7.1 Canon. it's the ony thing in my price range at the moment. I'd love a 10MP, but I'm not about to shell out $1000 for a camera.

I agree -- you already take beautiful pictures! The camera doesn't make them. The love behind the lens does. :-)
Happy New Year!!!!

I don't know what you are talking about! I love your pictures and the picture above is a perfect example of why I love them so!

Photography classes are good but they also make you overthink. IMHO I agree with everyone here - you don't need a class or a better camera - you're doing great without either of those things.

Everyone is right on, have you thought about joining a critique group or something? Just like a writers group, they can give you feedback and ideas. Just a thought. They are usually a little less structured than an actual class, but I'm sure that depends...

I agree with shutterblog...I've seen mediocre shots taken with expensive cameras, and some simply beautiful shots taken with not as expensive cameras...this is one of them:)

Tee Hee,
Never mind my other message that I posted two seconds ago. I should have looked around to see if you posted or not.
