Living room options
What should I do with the wall behind the console?
Here's a floorplan of my living room.
And a (bad) picture.
It is painted rental beige - and I'm not allowed to paint or wallpaper. If I owned this house, or I was allowed to paint/wallpaper, I'd be leaning towards the blackbird wall paper (lower right). The other downside is how expensive this wall paper is.
Another idea I have is for a very large, oversized print, possibly the L'instant Taittinger champagne ad. (Taittinger does happen to be my favorite champagne! which is a happy coincidence, mostly I just like the print.) The print would end up partially behind the console, with the print centered vertically on the wall, and the end of the console overlapping the lower left corner of the print. I also like the Chat Noir ad, I think I prefer it, but maybe the Taittinger ad works better since the lower corner is empty.
I've thought about various options to get a similar look to the wall paper via vinyl wall decals, or fabric panels, or fabric with starch to adhere it to the walls, but haven't made any decisions yet.
As far as wall decals, there are a lot of bamboo designs, which gives the same vertical pattern, and a nature theme. I don't think I'd put bamboo wall decals along the entire wall, just behind the end of the console and to the right of the console, sort of like the top right image.
Any other suggestions/comments? Or preferences for any of these ideas?

I like the lower right option. Love the console!

I like the idea of the bamboo theme. It seems like a shame to hide even part of a print behind a console. If you do get a print, I'd go with the Taittinger one... I feel like I've seen that Chat Noir one EVERYWHERE.

I like the Taittinger one as well. A touch of elegance...which goes with that beautiful piece of furniture.

Thanks a lot for the feedback and comments so far!
J.L & krpm1 - lots of people have commented that these images are too common, esp. the Chat Noir. Of the two prints, my sister and I agreed with you guys that the Taittinger one is better - it is marginally less common, the woman is facing the right direction, whereas the cat is facing away, and there is that convenient blank spot on the print.
I might do something like the bamboo, and I'm looking at the temporary wallpapers again. (I had crossed off the idea of the temporary wallpapers previously b/c none of the images appealed to me, but I'm reevaluating since Abby posted them again, maybe one of them is OK. I'll get a sample and see how it looks.)
Wig3000 - I really like the wallpaper too, but it is too expensive! $155 for a 15ft roll, 2 roll minimum order, and tax, shipping etc. It is too expensive even for a 'frame a panel of the wallpaper' kind of treatment. I wish a similar, inexpensive fabric would show up! Where are the knockoffs when you need them?
I will let everyone know what happens with that wall. I am very slow to make decisions though, so it could quite awhile before I have any update. :-) I'm even slower putting plans into action, if I ever get to the point of making a decision.
