This was a lightning storm near the Ankeny, Iowa airport (IKV) I like this because you can see the leader bolt coming from the ground up and across the base of the clouds. This is probably now the lightning shot that I am most proud of.
THIS PHOTO WILL BE IN THE 2007 DECEMBER ISSUE OF AOPA (aviation) MAGAZINE. It is one of the finalist in their avation photo contest.
This photo just won second place in the AOPA contest. :)

Thank you everyone. Terry, I started out handheld and then ran to the car to get my tripod. I was able to capture about two more just like this one but the other two were a little blown out. This one was, what i thought to be the crisper of the three.

The best lightning shot I have seen yet.I had trouble getting home.I35 S was flooded at a construction cross over,and when I turned around through the median to go backroads there were trees down.It rained 2 inches here in a short time.
