Aurora Sommaroy

Been a while!
Just thought I had better upload something to let you know I am alive. I have been off flickr for a while busy with family and work. My camera has been repaired from its' Atlantic swim and seems to be working nicely. I have been out a bit but have come home with nothing great. Yet to get a 'proper' session going yet.
This shot was taken this January in Sommaroy at a cool spot we searched out during the day and then spent 7 straight hours standing on that night. The aurora wasn't as amazing as on other nights but was still good enough :) You can just make out two photographers on the hill trying to ruin my shots as usual, Tony Spencer and Ole Solamonsen I think. This is two shots focus stacked, lower iso narrower aperture fg. Hope you are all well, and thanks for looking.

P.s. Watch this space for an upcoming Workshop announcement for August in Cornwall. Should be action packed.

Exposure 19
Aperture f/1.8
Focal Length 24 mm
ISO Speed 1600

I'd be chuffed to capture even a smidgen, a mere wisp of an aurora let alone a cracking capture like this! Very nicely composed, Joe, the protruding rock balances the intense aurora, and I agree with , those green reflections are photographic icing!

Really nice Joe! Great colors above and reflected. The green is sweet....but also really like the light glow behind the mountain to the left. Good to see you up again and congrats on getting your camera back.

Hi, im the co-Art Director for `Howards and Caz`s Gallery` and would be very honoured if you would consider posting your stunning photo into the Gallery.
This Gallery is so different than anything flickr has done before, as it is a tough Gallery to belong to, and now the bar has raised to Platinum level, and only the best will be accepted, and it is my opinion that this wonderful piece here belongs with us ……. I hope you will consider posting your beautiful photo in, as i feel it has the standard required to be a part of this Gallery......Kind regards..Caz (AD)
