Evening

Evening

A quick meet up at Nanven with Tony (www.flickr.com/photos/tonyarmstrong/) and a gentle sunset revived the soul. Hardly been out due to work and life. Hope everyone is good, thanks for looking.

Autumn Approach

Autumn Approach

Shot in Norway by the side of a road in October, this is one from the archives that caught my eye some weeks back that I never posted.
The colour here was crazy as the rain was pouring down making the greens and yellows really stand out. The polariser helped in that regard, although heavy spray and drops of rain from passing lorries was a nightmare!
I thoroughly enjoyed this session in the rain, and got a few keepers. Pretty understated, but that's the way my photography seems to be headed. Thanks for looking and for the comments on my last shot.

Pentreath Last Light

Pentreath Last Light

Another from this wonderful serpentine beach on the Lizard peninsula. This one was just to show the uniqueness of that red veining and the undulating surfaces the boulders sit on. Rarely seen free of sand, this was a chance I wasn't going to miss as I had waited a long time for this set of circumstances to arise.
Very busy at the moment so not on flickr much, apologies if not caught up with your streams. Thanks for looking.

Ped-n-Vounder

Ped-n-Vounder

A shot I took a couple of weeks ago whilst out shooting with Andy Pye. He was great company for this sunrise and you should check out his photostream. www.flickr.com/photos/15585589@N07
I really struggled to get anything original here and just went with the 'flow'. We got a nice dash of colour through the clouds as the sun rose and the beach at high tide was perfectly smooth from the waves. The high winds and spray coming up the cliffs were a bit of a mare, but still a great morning out. Thanks for looking.

Serpentine

Serpentine

Another detail from Pentreath beach on the Lizard Peninsula. The sky was cloudless which made detail shots the natural choice. This was shot maybe 20 minutes before sunset, so the light was warm and raking in over the contorted rock. Veins of rich red Serpentine were literally everywhere and I found myself saying " there just too much choice!" Hardly a problem but sometimes visual overload is hard to decipher. These two rocks caught my eye with their simple stripes and rounded form. Reminiscent of Nanven and its rounded granite boulders. I tried a few comps of this little scene but found this had the best balance of detail and context.
An extraordinary place that has taken over a year to be free of sand. No doubt the tide will shift it all back again before long and this will be buried. More to come as I tried hard to make the most of this fairly rare opportunity. By the way if anyone plans on a trip there be prepared for a complete collapse of the cliff face and the steps down being in a pile at the bottom! It is seriously hairy trying to scramble down there. Thanks for looking and for the constructive comments on the previous shot.

Wiki says: Serpentinite is a rock composed of one or more serpentine group minerals. Minerals in this group are formed by serpentinization, a hydration and metamorphic transformation of ultramafic rock from the Earth's mantle. The alteration is particularly important at the sea floor at tectonic plate boundaries.
