Criticism is that I oppose development; Criticism is that I point finger but provide no solution.
Yes I oppose development of rich into super rich. Yes I oppose looting ones bread to butter someone else’s. Let there be a level playing field. Development cannot come by looting farmer’s right. A population which lacks basic education, skill, nutrition and basic health care can never get benefitted from Knowledge based industry (for that matter from any modern industry). They can only lose their livelihood and provide exploitable unskilled labor force; they can provide cheap child sex worker. In India, Bengal stands first in human trafficking for sexual exploitation though a so called Marxist government is in place for the last 30 years.
Now comes the solution part. Let the social institutions work independently to achieve their goal(s); goal of educational system can never be to produce brainwashed cadres; provide world class curriculum to every child. Healthy – Properly Educated population brings prosperity.
How will be the story of Gulshan if her father ( who has given land for industry) becomes a shareholder of the company/ies who will operate from his land ! How about government making consortium of companies who will provide the cost of education of Gulshan and her friends; world class curriculum and workable infrastructure. My dreams! My dreams! Corporations can only make use of land and labor if they disburse their social responsibility properly otherwise - its exploitation. Corporate social responsibility is not a charity it’s an obligation. If you don’t / can’t pay for the social cost then please don’t operate.
