Mount Rainier

Mount Rainier

Although it costs slightly more, I chose to fly to Portland, OR, via Vancouver, B.C. (from Ottawa, Canada) instead of through one of the big hubs like Chicago or Houston (yeah, Houston - go figure!) the reason being you travel on small turbo prop planes at LOW altitude. This "gives you a view of the world through God's eye", to paraphrase Karen Blixen - and an incredible high (pardon the pun! I didn't sleep for two days anticipating the rush!)

One still submits to God's will on what kind of weather one will find en route, which was a little hazier than one might have wished due to the great summer heat and ensuing marine layer, but not too bad!

Here is the majestic Mount Rainier, floating in space, as we fly over Seattle, WA.
