A YOUNG PRINCE HAS A LOOK AT AN EARLY MOTION PICTURE CAMERA --- Unfortunately, WE Don't Have a Look At It

GIRDWOOD WAS THE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF PHOTOGRAPHER of the REALISTIC TRAVELS STEREOVIEW COMPANY of GREAT BRITAIN.

 

I wish they has set this shot up to show the his early cinema camera. As it is, all we have is a great look at Dr. Girdwood's bum.

 

If you are a British Royalty fan, at least there's that going for it !

 

I'm posting this "backside view" of Girdwood to give you an idea of the last Western photographer to publish what I believe to be the last set of standard, real-photo OLD JAPAN STEREOVIEWS.

 

I will be posting a short run of them to get some of his work on the record here on flickr.

 

I think they were taken between 1908 and 1912, and published in England up until WW1 began. After that, Girdwood was busy photographing the Great War in Europe
