THE GREAT DAIBUTSU AT KAMAKURA #1 OF 3 -- Way Back in 1892

This is a great place to visit in Japan. While looking at the statue, you may contemplate the theoretical number of old bronze pots and pans they had to melt down to make this.

 

All three pictures in this little group were taken by T. ENAMI over a period of over 30 years. Pictures #1 and #2 were taken only about 6 years apart. Picture #3 was taken after the Great Kanto Plains Earthquake of 1923, and shows the repaired base of the statue that was highly damaged.
