THE TEA PICKERS -- A Colorful Hillside Scene in Old Japan

The color of this group among the tea leaves is as nice as can be. Even in their labors, the variety of Kimono patterns set them all apart. Notice the freshly flooded rice paddies in the valley behind them. SCENES OF LABOR IN OLD JAPAN.

From a ca. 1905-20 hand-tinted glass lantern-slide by T. ENAMI of Yokohama. For more about Enami and his own Photographic labors in Japan see www.t-enami.org/ Also...here's another related T. Enami view of Tea Pickers : www.flickr.com/photos/24443965@N08/2329878862/

Hi Tokis. Look here...FOURTH PICTURE down....archives.presbyterian.org.nz/EnamiGallery/pag e1a.htm It looks the same at first glance...but don't forget, this is partly an art. Second girl from the right has a BLUE Kimono (below the hat) in my picture, PINK in theirs ! And what happened to the distant mountain in my glass slide ? There it is in the slide down in New Zealand !

This is really gorgeous. I'd love to walk right into the frame and loose myself in the town in the background.
