The Broken Bridge from Tiber Island (Isola Tiberina). Just south of the Isola Tiberina, where the Tiber makes its last bend before leaving the central districts, in the middle of the river stands a large ruin, the only surviving arch of an old bridge. Its upper part still bears reliefs featuring a dragon, the family insignia of pope Gregory XIII (1572-85). Given through the centuries no less than ten different names, it is now commonly known as Ponte Rotto, i.e. broken bridge.
