Ca1950 2 Star in Loburn

The 2 Star is almost identical to 5 star frame I have. Same lugs and fittings. Neither frame has a maker's name despite, in the case of the 2 Star, an elaborate paint job.

Jones Cycles in Christchurch used stars on their prewar frames, and this could be a very late Jones. It uses malleable cast lugs rather than the pressed lugs that were common on postwar bikes, including the Cycleworth frames that were the most common postwar lightweights in Christchurch.

The 2 Star is fitted with a Sturmey Archer FC hub, a "lightweight" 4 speed hub aimed at the time trialling market.

Really nice collection of bikes you have.

      Thanks, M D.
I keep insisting I'm not a collector & that the bikes were just an occupational hazard (I spent 15 odd years in the bike trade - some odder than others). I guess it's time to fess up.
