Lombok Snails.

Lombok Snails.

Today we went into a village in Lombok. A lot of the women there weave sarongs. This woman works in the rice paddies and brings home the snails to sate and eat, leftover snails are eaten by the village ducks.

We have been in Lombok a few days. We spent New Years Eve in Kuta, but I didn't take any photos. We did meet some American girls one evening. We went for one drink and ended up spending hours drinking rum with palm sugar and ended up waking up all the towns dogs, hiding from a drunk Australian, watching toads wrestle and having a 3am swim in the hotel's swimming pool.

We are now staying near a place called Senggigi. Yesterday we spent the day in a spa having massages, scrubs, manicures and pedicures. Thoroughly relaxing.

Only three more days of our holiday left before we have to have to make a sad return to Jakarta.

Family Fish Feet Time.

Family Fish Feet Time.

L-R Kim's sister, Kim's dad, my mum and Kim all getting their feet eaten by fish. Both families met for the first and only time before we get married next year. Both Kim and I are extremely lucky to have such supportive families, who are prepared to fly round the world to see us. And I'm pleased to report that they all got on swimmingly. The raspberry vodka, beautiful weather, private pool and delicious food did help.

Gili Trawangan Sunset.

Gili Trawangan Sunset.

We got the public boat over to Bali. My parents flew in and I took them over to Gili Trawangan, the next day Kim's arrived and she bought hers over to meet us. Gili Trawangan is a little island. So little motorised transport is banned, people travel by horse and bicycle. We had a lovely private villa (which Kim booked by accident)

Here's an obligatory sunset photograph,

Turtles

Turtles

I was trying to upload just one photo from each place, but baby turtles are too cute to skip. This was taken on my little Olympus point and shoot camera, as was the underwater photo in the previous picture.

The turtle sanctuary collects the turtle eggs and keeps the turtles safe for 9 months before releasing them back out to the sea.

Us in Gili Meno.

Us in Gili Meno.

After a lovely week my parents left Gili Trawangan. The rest of us took a boat of to Gili Meno. It's an even smaller island. It doesn't have the night life Gill Trawangan has, so is very tranquil. We had a lovely little place by white sand beaches and some great snorkelling,
