Shakespeare & roses...
{53/365}
I picked these Cecile Brunner climbing roses out of our garden...they have the loveliest fragrance! The book is Shakespeare (Romeo & Juliet), printed in 1901. It's part of a collection of 16 Shakespeare books that we have.

This is so lovely. I love the ragged edges to the pages (but where are the words?). I love the processing - the tone, the light, the texture. All add to the vintage feel.

oh my! 1901? That is amazing! What an incredible find - or were they in the family? Just gorgeous, though, the whole thing - I love the roses too. I never have the words to describe the way I feel about your work. It's just beautiful, Claire.

Gorgeous, Claire! I love how the roses look almost as distressed as the books with their little ruffled edges. So pretty!

Thank you so very much for the comments everyone. You're so kind.
About the books, they belonged to the previous owner of the house. When my husband bought our house back in 87, she asked if he could keep them and she'd be back to get them at a later date (she moved to Washington state). Well, she never returned for them, and she passed away a couple of years ago and had no children....so I guess they're ours now, unless someone in her family wants them. They are so beautiful, and a true collector's item!
