The poem Masks is from the book, "Every Thing On It" by Shel Silverstein. Recently passed, Shel was a poet, playwright, cartoonist, recording artist and grammy winning songwriter, probably most noted for writting childrens books. I've enjoyed reading them to my child over the years. "The Giving Tree" is his most popular book for kids but is a good read for adults as well.
This poem resonated with me. Call this a tribute to Shel. His poems and music brought many smiles to me and mine over the coarse of his life. And we still keep a copy of "The Giving Tree" in the house. If you've never read it, stop on in. And bring the kids.
