Its difficult to discern on the wall, but the beer barnd was Gluek's. Gluek Beer was started in 1857, in Minneapolis, by German immigrant Gottlieb Gluek. The company had a brewery in northeast Minneapolis. The Gluek Brewing Company was sold to G. Heileman Brewing Co. of La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1964. In 1997, Cold Spring Brewing, of Cold Spring, Minnesota took control of brand, and changed its name to Gluek Brewing Comparny. However, the Gluek company name was dropped and the Cold Spring company name was reestablished. Gluek Beer--the brand-- was marketed by Cold Spring Brewing as a lower-priced beer. In August 2010, Cold Spring Brewing announced that it would discontinue the Gleuk Beer brand. Cold Spring Brewing retained the Gluek trademark.
In Minneapolis, the Gluek name can still be found. In downtown, a bar / restaurant,, built at the turn of the 20th century as an outlet for the beer, carries the Gluek's name. In northesat Minneapolis, on the Mississippi River bluff, there is a city park named Gluek.
