Corman locomotivre #7895, formerly a Union Pacific locomotive, was in a train loading sand at the Ohio River in Louisville, Kentucky.

Two rail lines-- the Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac Railroad, and the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad-- crossed in Hanover County Virginia at Doswell. The RF&P line ran north/south between Washington DC and Richmond. The C&O line crossed on an east/west bearing before turning south to Richmond. The RF&P line- the double tracks- was taken over by CSX, and the C&O line was taken over by the Buckingham Branch Railroad.

The Martin's Grocery Store sign was for a business that closed in the 1960s. Before becoming Martin's Grocery, Christie Store buiilt in1890, operated out of the building. The stores that operated there- (under different owners)- were the hub for economic activity and played an important role in the social life of local people who formed the High Plains community of the Sappony Indians. The Sappony are Inidan people whose ancestral home is southern Halifax County, Virginia ,and northern Person County in North Carolina.
