Signs of spring like this one keep my spirits up despite some freezing temperatures the past two mornings. Warmer weather is coming in the next few days. Washington's famous cherry blossoms may start to open in a about two weeks.

This early blooming shrub is one of my favorite spring blossoms. I photograph them every year and each year they seem a little different. This year they seem to be more pink than usual. Perhaps it's the blue sky.

Winter evenings produce gorgeous sunsets in Washington. If I time my walk home from work just right, I have the pleasure of a beautiful walk and photo op. If you have time, view large on the black background.

Here I photographed the vases shown in an earlier photo on a black background against a white wall where the reflections from their curves danced. I was amazed at all the colors that appeared in the clear glass.

When we think of sunsets, we usually think of the sun setting over oceans, lakes, or mountains. But sunset in the city can be beautiful as well, especially in clear winter skies. I took this photo on my walk home from work. You can see the Washington Monument in between the lampposts.
