The afternoon sun cast long shadows on the brick plaza in front of the Eastern Market Metro station on a sunny but chilly early spring day on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.

Another from a group of datura shots I took one morning last summer. Such photogenic flowers! The sensuous curves, sharp edges, and points are amazing to see and photograph.

These wonderful flowers have been blooming in my neighborhood for a few weeks. Most of the flowers I see are either white or purple but these lovely pink and green ones are the most interesting. Happy spring!

Signs of spring like this one keep my spirits up despite some freezing temperatures the past two mornings. Warmer weather is coming in the next few days. Washington's famous cherry blossoms may start to open in a about two weeks.

This early blooming shrub is one of my favorite spring blossoms. I photograph them every year and each year they seem a little different. This year they seem to be more pink than usual. Perhaps it's the blue sky.
