Blue Bell Hill , Aylesford , Kent.
Little Kit’s Coty House, The Uncountable Stones or The Countless
Stones, are the collapsed and destroyed remains of a Dolmen, Quoit or
Cromlech, depending on the native language.
This is another of The “Medway Megaliths” and is about 400M downhill
from Kit’s Coty and was built at about the same time (Somewhere
between 3500BC and 2800BC).
It is believed to have collapsed and been destroyed in the late
1600’s. No one knows how it collapsed or why it was destroyed.
It was given the name The Uncountable Stones or Countless Stones by
early archeologists, who could never agree on how many stones there
were. Even today, estimates range from 19 to 23. I do not remember
exactly what it is, but I do know that there is a curse on anyone who
correctly counts the stones, so maybe that’s why.
In 1885 Little Kit’s Coty was also made a Scheduled Ancient Monument
and surrounded by railings .However , Archeologists have never found
any signs whatsoever of The Chambered Long Barrow ( Earthen Mound)
associated with this site . This is another mystery
