I can't help post this image shot at a Custom Home in Henderson, NV, just outside of Las Vegas. The basement features an pool table (right), arcade, two bowling lanes (left), kitchen, theater, driving range simulator, and this sunken sofa area for socializing. This was a pretty fun one to shoot.

Lighting is all ambient except for one 500watt halogen worklamp camera left softened with diffusion gel. It does create that hit on the metallic base of the bowling lane seat, which is a distraction, but it also creates some nice gradients and accents on the stairway.

I'm trying to help feed my stream with more traditional spaces, as most of what I shoot is modern. This is a home not far from Wayne Newton's "Shenandoah" estate. It is an older home which has had the benefit of good upkeep and a good designer. The space is fairly unique in that it opens up to two stories as you enter the living room from the kitchen. There isn't too much to show up there, so I just gave a glimpse of the open space and second story railing.

Setup: All ambient light. This is a 3-exposure HDR processed in Photomatix with Exposure Fusion. Some sharpening and local adjustments (exposure, clairty and sharpening) were made on the chair backs (which were a little dark) in Adobe Camera Raw.

It has been far too long since I've posted on Flickr. This living room features a baby grand piano, two-story window and traditional furnishings. The home is in the suburbs of Las Vegas--about 20 minutes from the strip.

This shot is a 3-exposure HDR fused in photomatix and processed in ACR. This is all ambient light. No masking.

It has been a while since I've posted on the stream and thought I would add a fun shot taken this past weekend.

The title (taken from U2's "In God's Country,") I found to be a perfect fit for this shot taken in the Virgin River Gorge, a short stretch of I-15 which passes through Arizona on the way from Las Vegas to Utah (and vice versa.)

This shot was taken round about midnight under a full moon with a 25-second exposure. Apart from some slight sharpening and color temperature adjustments in Adobe Camera Raw and some levels adjustments in Photoshop, this is straight out of the camera.

Done! This is the last in the series of 30 (of the 238 delivered) from this residence.

It was difficult to choose a final shot of the residence--I played with the idea of posting all of the delivered shots into their own set, but realized that as a free Flickr'r, I can't do that! Although I have already posted a shot of this area I felt this perspective gave a real sense of the modern abstractness of the home: a buzz of blue LED light, a giant and surreal front door, Escher-esque stairs, and no hand rails.

The bulk of the remaining 238 shots are empty rooms, bathrooms, closets, and accessories such as media racks in the garage and a giant built-in BBQ outside. I would say the majority of my shoots function in the same way. Most clients want a large body of imagery which covers the immensity of their property comprised of the highest quality images which can be captured in a single day.

Setup: Ambient light + One 500w halogen work lamp with full diffusion gel doubled-up on bottom of staircase shooting up.
