The New Turlock Theater Fire 1946

July 25th 1946. The Turlock Theater fire at Broadway and Olive occurred, causing a large amount of damage. The theater was rebuilt several years later and remained an operating theater until it burned again on January 16th 1976. I am looking for additional photos of fires in Turlock. If you have any historical photos of the Turlock Fire Department please contact me.

I don't know. It was from a collage in the TFD museum.

I have fond memories as a child spending summer days down at the rebuilt theater. Often the price for admission was simply a can of food. We called it the Walker Theater. In those days a live person would begin the show standing in front of the screen to talk about the raffles, drawings, or interactive games that took place involving the audience and one of the cartoons or short movies (prior to the main feature).
