"Look up, waaaay up..."
A beautiful and iconic old bell tower on the campus grounds at St. Mary's College, one of Calgary's oldest and most respected post-secondary institutions.
This tall tower is located on the top south side of the Bow River Valley, overlooking a large expanse of Fish Creek Park, and visible from many parts of south eastern and south western Calgary.
The tower was completely gutted in an unexplained fire almost twenty years ago and had to be completely restored; I remember riding the school bus on Canyon Meadows drive, directly north and across from the tower on the other top side of the Bow River Valley and seeing the tower engulfed in fire from the inside, with smoke and flames billowing from the top!
I was about 11 years old and it was a sight I will never forget!
Cool, I just found out this got Explored at # 322 on March 5, 2012!
Big thanks to all who helped it get there!
