Masters of War / Only A Pawn In Their Game (Explore # 433 December 13 2011)

Newer Older

Ok, so today two of my good flickr friends uploaded photos referencing Bob Dylan (AlisonAshton's No Direction Home and Joyce Latham's Bob Dylan), one of the greatest musicians and artists of all time, and one of my personal favorites, so I felt inspired to make this tribute.

This is against war, against the pressures placed on us by modern society, about stresses in our lives, about greedy corporations and governments manipulating people for money and power, about anyone who has ever been made to feel helpless, about all the needless lives lost to war...

I wish we could all just live in peace!

Here the lone, overwhelmed pawn is threatened at every turn, and feels frustrated, helpless and scared.

As do so many people in today's world...due to forces beyond their control.

Just found out this got Explored at # 433 on December 13th 2011!

Thanks to all who helped it get there!

Off of Dylan's classic album " Freewheelin" in 1963... well worth a listen to you younger folks. I remember when it came out and it was a most influential of Dylan's early albums.

Now, the photo... a great interpretation with the clear players surrounding the frosted glass pawn heightened by the warm light of the fire (my guess).

    Seen in the:

Beautifully done, Dave. Those transparent chess pieces really look outstanding against the amber light. So there are frosted glass pieces for one play and clear for the other? The only thing missing from this shot is a cup of hot chocolate (maybe with a sprig of mint). :^)

    Thank you so much, Ira!

Freewheelin' was a great album indeed! The best of his folk period, by far.

    Thank you so much, joan!

Thank you so much, my friend!

Thank you, Steve! Really goad you like it! And yes, frosted for one player, clear for the other!
