It's not a bird, it's not a plane, it's not Superman, it's a drone!
I was birding at the Ellis Creek Wastewater Ponds in Petaluma when I saw a drone for the first time. This one was noticibly noisy breaking the quiet of the morning. I don't know if it had a camera, but it would be a good tool for counting waterfowl on the ponds. I had never seen one of these small ones before, and I doubt any of the birds had either. When I was in the Oregon National Guard in the late sixties, the unit I was in had tracked vehicles with twin forties mounted on them (anti-aircraft). During our yearly active service (two weeks) we trained to shoot at targets that were pulled behind drones flying over the ocean. It was a nono to shoot at the drone. I wasn't sure what "group" that I should post this in, so I went a little non-conventional.
