The reason for my visit to the Philippines - my Grandmother. Doesn't she look fabulous for 90 (she turned 91 three months later)? The last time we saw each other she was in 1993. It was her first and last time in California. She was too weak to travel after that.

I didn't grow up with Lola Nanay but I remember that she made me the cutest pajamas and night gowns when I was little. I also remember she would always pinch my skin between my eyes so I wouldn't have a flat nose. And she was the best pen pal I ever had. She doesn't write me as much now but I would always look forward to her letters when I was younger.

The funniest moment with her during this trip was that she was constantly asking me and praying for a great-grandchild. And not just a great-grandchild. She wants a female great-grandchild. The woman knows what she wants! Haha!
