thanks again for the lovely comments! Rosegarden - I made an iPhone pouch from the ripple piece, and used Tahki Cotton Classic in these colours: 3997 (bright red), 3701 (light cactus green), 3415 (raspberry), 3805 (turquoise) and 3458 (hot pink). I made up my own pattern, and now I don't have the original work and have forgotten exactly how I did it!
It's a pretty standard ripple pattern, except I used dc (sc if you are in Australia), and on the first row of each new colour I crocheted into the back stitch only to create a little ridge.
