• iPad 64GB.
  • iPhone is supported by the kit, of course :-) Good for a daily snapshot like this one.
  • SD card reader. Doesn't drain the camera's battery!
  • USB connector. Adds huge potential to iPad.
  • Canon Rebel T1i. Light-weight DSLR with video support.
  • Surgery robot.
  • Sigma zoom lens (18-200mm) for everyday shooting.

iPad Camera Connection Kit

Newer Older

Taken with iPhone and uploaded by iPad using iPad Camera Connection Kit.

It's still buggy especially with HD movies, but amazing tool for photographers on the go. I hope Apple puts color calibration support for iPad's beautiful IPS display.

Some non-camera USB devices are also supported. This tiny $30 kit gives iPad a lot more potential.

Have you been able to tether your iPod to your iPad?

  7. Yutaka Tsutano 36 months ago | reply

No, I haven't tried tethering because it is not officially supported.

At this point Apple doesn't provide a way of sending packets through USB. You might need jailbroken iPhone/iPad and do some hacking to make it happen.

It may be easier to access iPhone via Wi-Fi and establish a SSH tunnel to the 3G network. It's more generic and doesn't need a cable.

Either way, it will require jailbroken devices and is a breach of contract, so I wouldn't do it. I'd rather get 3G iPad and save the battery life of both devices. But yes, USB tethering may be very helpful in some situations. Let's just hope Apple adds the feature :-)
