love, its never black and white
half of our family, laughing, happy and enjoying being together. this is love, unconditional, total and for always. we were laughing and i was trying to get a formal pose, in the end everyone tried the U2 pose and we laughed and laughed. how does this meet the brief? i wanted something out of the ordinary, something different to capture a moment and i really hope this does. it was such a happy time. thanks to pete, my husband, and our four eldest duaghters, Jess, Tilly, Alice and Ruby.

time to celebrate!
me, teddy and pete my husband on tedy's first birthday. a first birthday is always an occasion and especially for us. i enjoy reading the why behind a person's photograph as much as the photo and i feel it can add depth to the image. there are many meanings for us behind this one. teddy and myself had lost several of our nine lives during the pregnancy and delivery and we thought when he was born life would go back to being as normal as it can be with eight children. it didn't. fortunatley teddy is fine and for each day with him i'm grateful. two days after this photo, and this is where time comes into it, i was diagnosed with hughes syndrome and with lupus, so time is even more special now. i want to make every day count so when the time comes when life gets more difficult i will know i made the most of the time i was given. one life. live it. dawn

first steps
teddy had his first walk outside as we were watching the local mini rugby club fun day. i wanted to try and keep the composition simple but wanted the detail of just a few daisies in the foreground. i prefer simple backgrounds and the framing of teddy is simple. any comments would be appreciated. thanks

bread tins
this was one of a series taken at "The Dining Room, Ashbourne" for pete and laura dales. the resturant is very small, the food as you just would not believe, and they have an michelin star (i think) i was working on my AS photography exam and the subject was kitchen. the rest of the photos are on the news section of the dining room website or visit the dining room for a really special occasion!! i tried to photograph the smallest details trying different angles, but it was observation of the utensils and food, and the removal of any additional background so the viewer would place the focus on the subject rather than being side tracked with the back ground. i hope this makes sense!! i really enjoyed taking these images, and was delighted when pete and laura used them on their web site. yesterday i finished my A level course. its been busy due to family life, illness, etc but i have learnt a massive amount and am starting a degree in september, part time, photography(of course).
