The end of the road

The end of the road

For most people, Ennerdale is one of the most remote valleys in the Lake District to reach. Once you get to the lake (Ennerdale Water) the tarmac stops and travel by bike is on forest roads and dirt tracks. 6 miles later along these tacks the 'road' stops and you have reached the Black Sail youth hostel - a former shepherds bothy - surrounded by some of the finest fells in the region.
