If you can name that object, you were probably alive in the 1950's :)
My mother had one of these and used it almost daily well into the 60's before she got her first automatic washing machine. We still had to hang clothes on the line though because she didn't get an electric dryer for many more years. Laundry practically does itself now - comparatively.
While scouting around at the old Moulton homestead on Mormon Row in Grand Teton National Park, we saw this old wringer washing machine tub out in a field; It was probably made by Sears & Roebuck. I used it as "foreground interest" for a portrait of the friends we were travelling with.
