8am. It is time to head down towards Mweka Gate. I look back at one last glimpse at Kibo. To think we were standing on that very top just a day ago. We have about 12.1km to go today.

161 - Rest and Recovery

We take off our boots and wash up in little pails of warm water prepared by our guides. The sun sets over the relatively quiet campsite. I adjust myself to suit the slightly sloping floor of my tent. I have some free time to write my journal and listen to MP3, but the music sounds strangely slower than usual.
