    Anita Newcomb McGee, assistant surgeon, was director of the Daughters of the American Revolution Hospital Corps (which became the Red Cross) and organized the Army Nurse Corps in 1901. This photo is from her service in Japan during the Russo-Japanese War. ca. 1904-1908. Selected by Kathleen.

      Anita Newcomb McGee has visited Matsuyama, Ehime, Japan for 2 days in April, 1904 to meet POWs of the Japan-Russo War. See her visit to Japan and Matsuyama in drawings from a magazine called "Seiro Zue" Special Issue No.289 Published in May 10, 1904.
