Down under, where surprise awaits you. This is the pedestrian tunnel underneath the Wilhelminaplein in Rotterdam, connecting the Wilhelminapier with the subway station.
The design is by Zwarts & Jansma and to my opinion truly good work, a pleasant ambience and a clean and safe interior.

This is the Van Brienenoordbridge on the east side of Rotterdam, of which you see the skyline on the horizon. More than a quarter of a million cars pass this bridge everyday, making it one of the busiest highways in the Netherlands.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh, that was the sound you heard. It´s amazing how much noise these windmills actually produce, not only the rotating blades, but also the whole shaft and it´s construction. When standing close you feel the force coming from the wind, the electricity being generated right above your head.

The ´New Waterway´, entrance to the harbour of Rotterdam seen from the Maasvlakte.
In the near future an expansion of the harbour will be constructed on newly reclaimed land. This ´second Maasvlakte´ should be suitable for the largest vessels imaginable.
A hopper on the left brings sand from the sea towards the site of the new harbour where it's sprayed out to form new land. Meanwhile ships come and go as global transport never stops.
