   That's what I'm thinking, Amy! I actually had my eye out for an artist & craftsman style oak rocker, but never quite found one in my price range that I loved enough. This one surprised me - not at all what I was looking for, but I love it.

   that's freakin' awesome!!! i've never seen a rocking chair like this...ever...cheers to you spending one many night nursing, and knitting, and contemplating recently stoked fires, and telling stories, and eating bowls of ice cream and drinking glasses of wine, and letting the back & forth of its motion seduce you to a simpler pleasure in life.

   this might be a naive question... what sort of "cushion" is that? a good friend of ours built us an amish rocker and i'm looking for something super cozy and comfy to put on the seat for a cushion!

   fivedotdesign - It's a sheepskin fleece. So, so wonderful for babies (mind have each had their own), but we also use ours as cushions too. ;)
   You can find them in a few places - IKEA sells an inexpensive version. But i like a little bit more of a low-chemical option (especially for use with babies), like here: www.childorganics.com/Organic-Blankets-Beddin g.htm

    A friend and I were just talking about the furniture in your house...yeah our lives are so boring that we actually have animated discussions that run along the lines of:

    "God, she's got a lot of wonderful old pieces like that dry sink!"'
    "You think they're family pieces? or pieces she's collected?"

    I'm sure the next chat will include: "Did you see that rocker!"
