   Hee hee, I cast on a wool hat last night after finishing a different one last week. I think it's the portability that makes it good or summer.

   Hats are like socks. Great on-the-go knitting. Wool or no, portable knitting is what summer is all about.

   Oh I love this... I wish I could knit. I crocheted a tam last fall and our puppy chewed a hole right through it. BTW, how are Calvin's dreads?

   beetgreen - I can't quite decide - is this a good hat pattern for use on NEST submissions? I was thinking it's a good inside-keep-off-the-chill weight. But maybe it's too thin to be helpful. Hmnn...

    you know what? I was thinking the same thing! I think it is an excellent pattern for an inside hat. Or a late fall hat. Or early spring hat. Or an in-the-car hat, which I wear lots. (and of course, great for anyplace not quite as cold as here.) I always need to go down several needle sizes. I'm going to make one on much smaller needles. I made the first one out of peace fleece. i loved it but it was a smidge too big. even on my big pumpkinhead.
