800 steps

once at the viewpoint (upper right), a set of steps leads down the mountainside then up the far side to eventually reach the monastery. While I have not counted them, I'm told there are 800 steps...

The small hut along the way houses butter lamps, now banned from Taktsang itself due to the devastating fire back in 1998 which destroyed the monastery.

the end goal of our trek to Bumdra; coming back down the mountain, we arrived at Taktsang Monastery from above rather than the more typical visit from below. Better known as the "Tiger's Nest", the monastery sits on a sheer cliff about 1000m above the Paro Valley.
