(Epic) North East Rays

(Epic) North East Rays

I had the most fantastic weekend and it was completed with a stunning display of the Northern Lights at my not so much of a secret viewing location Holy Island Causeway.

I visited this location both Saturday and Sunday night but the display on Sunday was Epic!

I have been working with the BBC and in the months ahead there will be a short story about my adventures of North East Aurora chasing.

This is not what I would call an accurate image of what it looked like though my eyes but it is how my camera recorded the light. For me it was very bright and animated but the colours where not as intence, Saying that If my eyes had of had long enough to adjust and the light from Bewick Upon Tweed was not as strong I think it probably would of looked similar to this.

For me when viewing the Northern Lights it is a huge reminder of the power of the sun and also the power of out amazing shield the magnetic field.

There is a good chance of more action in the Northeast & Scotland later in the week but it will probably come down to how good the weather is feeling.

So good luck peoples.

Oh and stay off my Causeway :)

For you camera geeks here is the useless information.

24mm Lens | 3200 ISO | 8 Seconds | f/1.4

Oh and the light on the sand is from a car driving past as I took this exposure. (thanks mate)

Lindisfarne causeway Aurora Borealis

Lindisfarne causeway Aurora Borealis

The Northern lights following the impact of a coronal mass ejection viewed from lindisfarne causeway 26/09/11

It was probably the best display I have ever seen from the North East. Shame about the cloud as it would of been spectacular to see everything!

The drive of your life

The drive of your life

This image was taken from a great road looking out over the hills near Calabasas above Malibu.

I have just returned from another trip to the states. I had a fantastic time and looking forward to going back again soon.
