I carry you with me every day: you inspire me; you bolster me; you see things in my photos and in me that I don't; and you have helped make me a better photographer and a better person.
making art is wonderful, but it isn't always easy. some people don't get it, and don't get why you do it or what exactly it is that you're doing. and as wonderful as it is to open yourself up to the feedback loop here, the more open and honest you are, the more vulnerable you leave yourself as well. and vulnerable is not easy - especially for me.
I got these little dudes ages ago with the idea that I could use them somehow. and then this summer, in the days after my surgery, so overwhelmed by the love and support I received here, I hatched this idea. I'd send my little army of kick ass out, one at a time, to so many of you to remind you of the power you have within you.
my lucha libres have been going out into the world one-by-one for a few months now, and I have loved seeing them show up in friends streams. my supply line dried up, and I was crushed, because I have many more recipients in mind, but I've just tracked down a new supplier and so, when you least expect it, a little totem of your power may just show up on your doorstep.
but, please know, even without a caped dude to remind you, I know you possess the power to do great things. and I can't wait to see how you use that power in 2012. be your own super hero. you are already mine!

your words and your superhero dudes make me think of this song that's been running through my head for weeks now. I've wanted to use it in a photo, just haven't figured out how yet, but I'm going to share them with you:
