Having just returned from a two week trip to China, I'll post a few shots. Stills aren't what I generally 'do' on steam railway jaunts, there are those who do it so much better, these pictures, for me, are something of a tag on to my videoing. (7hrs worth in two weeks!)
This picture was taken at the location described by those in the know as the 'steamiest place on earth', in the opencast mine, Jarlainuer up against the Russian border in northern China.
Several SY Class steam locomotives go about their business with coal and spoil trains whilst temperatures hovered around minus 10c. The face shovel loading the overburden in the foreground is electrically powered.
