The Big Field at Pony Slough

The Big Field at Pony Slough

This huge field lies between Pony Slough and Virginia Avenue, one of the two main arteries in North Bend. It's a prime piece of real estate that lies across the street from Safeway and Pony Village mall. It's been for sale for years but for now it is used primarily as an unofficial, unfenced dog park. I rarely bring the boys here. It wears them out fast. Other than the slough, there is no place for the boys to swim, splash and cool off. They are good for about a half hour of hard running and then they are asking to lay down. Sometimes I acquiesce.

Mom! Whitley's Touching Me.

Mom! Whitley's Touching Me.

I generally don't take all four boys with me when we go out. I split them up into twos and threes and on very special days, singles. They all love a "just me and Mommy" outing. To appease those who are left behind, I often fill toys with treats. keeping everyone happy while the "chosen" and I make our exit. Here Fritz has his feet on a stool to pose with some of the treat toys. Whitley can't resist getting into the act and knowing Fritz is on stay, has chosen this moment to torment him. I think it's quite appropriate that Whitley is in this photo as the two parti boys find chasing Whitley to be very self-gratifying. I'm sure they would do most anything if the reward was permission to engage in a merry chase after Whitley the Tormenter.
