frozen pond and the red gate

Nobody knows, what that gate in the middle of the university pond is supposed to be – but among us math students, we are quite convinced that it must be the gate to other, higher dimensions (whichever ones you would like), which can be reached by going through it… of course nobody ever has tried (it's way too swampy/shallow to swim in summer, and highly forbidden to go on the ice in winter), so there is no way of knowing it.
