Antiguan Racer Snake

Antiguan Racer Snake

The Antiguan racer snake is one of the rarest snakes in the world. By the mid-90s, invasive rats and mongooses had driven them to the brink of extinction. Over the past couple decades, conservation efforts have begun to restore their numbers from dozens to hundreds. I visited Great Bird Island, Antigua to do a film about this scarce snake.

The racer is wonderfully pleasant to work with. They're not very big, they aren't poisonous, and they aren't very aggressive.
