4/52 Ace of Diamonds

Week four took me to South Main by the river to the former site of the Ace of Diamonds. A popular restaurant and softball complex on the banks of the Rock River. The building burned to the ground a few years back, and the softball diamonds fell into disrepair. They were eventually removed. Today only the sign remains.

I remember playing softball here. On the banks of the river, under the lights on a warm summer night was more about feeding the mosquitos than softball. But a cold beer was always waiting inside, and the Friday night fish was always delicious!
