Plains Indian Burial Platform

I ran across this on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation (in a spot I probably shouldn't have been). Surrounded on 3 sides by steep drop-offs to the Badlands, it's an Oglala Sioux scaffold burial platform (representational of course), according to all the research I've done since getting home. I'm a HUGE fan of the Old West so I knew what it was and while struck dumb by the Carhenge discovery, THIS sight had me needing smelling salts. LOL Edward S. Curtis photographed one of these in 1908 and Captain Lewis noted the expedition's discovery of one in his journal dated April 20, 1805. Wow. Wow. Wow. The story is now posted on www.soloroadtrip.com
