It took me about seven attempts to get this action shot. Picture me running from behind the camera to the water, grabbing a stone, and then straining to hear the final beeps of the camera before throwing the stone. I was trying to capture either the stone in mid air above the water or the splash from the stone.

Very patient you are, and it was worth it. Your position is perfect to comunicate what is going on, even if the splash wasn't there -- but it is there, which is amazing!

What a hilarous story. I'd like to see some of the ones that didn't come out as planned. :) Awesome picture, btw.

the funniest part of the story is that this beach was totally disserted at the time i began taking photos, so i didn't mind looking like a fool running back and forth. right after the last shot i took, i noticed a family of four staring at me from about 100 yards down the beach to my right. i can only imagine what they were thinking. i gave a friendly wave and they walked away.

this is so beautiful, and to think it is a self portrait, so your timing had to be perfect...excellent work.

well deserved on Explore...and if those people on the beach only knew, they'd be asking for your autograph. ;-)

Lovely sunset. Great pose (candid)... the subject might be more interesting if placed a tag little to the right (the 1/3 rule would seem lovely IMO).

    40. sixOthree (81 months ago | reply)

the fact that this is a self-shot is what makes it so amazing. i was going to suggest placing yourself on the right third of the frame and skip into the left third of the frame. but i know how hard it is to do self-shots and make cool photos. the reflection on the water is amazing. this is such a beautiful photo!
