Thrybergh, St Leonard, sIV, 1a, William Reresby as donor

William Reresby was Rector of Thrybergh from 1505-1520. Dodsworth in his Church Notes recorded in window sIV a shield of Reresby with an inscription asking for prayers for the good estate of Rector William Reresby and for the souls of his parents. The kneeling figure of Reresby was drawn by Nathaniel Johnston (1627-1725). (His drawings are in Sheffield Archives, reproduced in Brian Sprakes' "The Medieval Stained glass of South Yorkshire", CVMA Summary Catalogue 7, 2003).
