I was driving to the gym today and I SAW THIS CAFE off of Sunset.....after the gym me and my friends went back to find it because we absolutely loved this idea and I could not believe I just happened to drive past it! What a coincidence!!
We were not able to find it driving back the second time. Is there an address or land mark so that I can stop by and see it for myself? I'm curious as to where it actually is since I passed right by it and now I don't see the cafe anywhere. mysterious, i know : )

I actually meant to add the address info, in case anyone wanted to see, but I never got around to it---So this is very good that you asked!!!
It is called "Lark". I think Lark Cake Shop. I will pay more attention next time and update this. But I think this will be good enough also.
It is on Sunset and Micheltorena. I saved a small Google map to show you. It is in Silverlake.

I came across your pic on apartmenttherapy.com a little while back and drooled. Came here and marked it as favorite.
In the very near future a very similar design is going above my bed.
I have 2 sizes of doilies being shipped to me today (who'd think they're so hard to find in NY!?), now I just need to find some thumb tacks!
Can't wait! So happy you got some pics of it and shared them!

If you get the chance to post a photo, I would love so much to see your design, when it's done.
A hint on the thumbtacks, they weren't just ordinary, in the size or strength. They seemed like industrial- kind of like an upholstery tack, but in the round thumbtack style. The cafe let me take photos ( they're really nice!!) But the employees didn't know the details of the design. But if I were to do this, I might try a hardware store.
also, some of the doilies are layered, in different sizes to make one flower.
I hope I gave you the best idea of how to do this, from my memory.
